Owners John and Jennifer Garrett launched the first edition of Community Impact Newspaper in 2005 with three full-time employees covering Round Rock and Pflugerville. Now, Community Impact Newspaper distributes hyperlocal news and information to millions of local residents and business owners each day online and monthly by mail.

Community Impact Newspaper is vested in the communities we serve and has dedicated reporters in each community who attend city council and school board meetings. We are among the first to report on local business, transportation, education and health care. Our staff serve on chamber boards, volunteer with nonprofits and are involved in our communities to make them a better place to live and work.

OUR GROWTH

Since its launch in 2005, Community Impact Newspaper has restructured an antiquated model—the community newspaper—and turned it into an essential tool by providing readers with useful, informative news.

Round Rock/Pflugerville/Hutto

On Sept. 2 we launched our first edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Round Rock/Pflugerville, Texas, with an initial circulation of 70,576. Hutto was added to the coverage area in January 2012.
Cedar Park/Leander

On April 21 we launched our second edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Cedar Park/Leander, Texas, with an initial circulation of 41,835.
Northwest Austin

On Feb. 23 we launched our third edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Northwest Austin, Texas, with an initial circulation of 70,250.
Georgetown

On Aug. 10 we launched our fourth edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Georgetown/Hutto/Taylor, Texas, with an initial circulation of 30,475. The paper changed circulation to only Georgetown in January 2012.
Southwest Austin

On April 25 we launched our fifth edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Southwest Austin, Texas, with an initial circulation of 59,578.
Central Austin

On Nov. 11 we launched our sixth edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Central Austin, Texas, with an initial circulation of 79,522.
Cy-Fair

On Sept. 18 we launched our seventh edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Cy-Fair, Texas, with an initial circulation of 105,298.
Lake Travis/Westlake

On Feb. 12 we launched our eighth edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Lake Travis/Westlake, Texas, with an initial circulation of 51,300.
Tomball/Magnolia

On Oct. 1 we launched our ninth edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Tomball/Magnolia, Texas, with an initial circulation of 47,000.
Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake

On March 17 we launched our 10th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake, Texas, with an initial circulation of 42,497.
San Marcos/Buda/Kyle

On May 19 we launched our 11th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in San Marcos/Buda/Kyle, Texas, with an initial circulation of 50,220.
The Woodlands

On Sept. 8 we launched our 12th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in The Woodlands, Texas, with an initial circulation of 72,978.
Katy

On Sept. 27 we launched our 13th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Katy, Texas, with an initial circulation of 81,782.
Reached 1 million in circulation

In 2013, Community Impact Newspaper reached a circulation of more than 1 million homes and businesses in Texas.
Frisco

On Aug. 1 we launched our 14th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Frisco, Texas, with an initial circulation of 51,350.
Sugar Land/Missouri City

On Sept. 5 we launched our 15th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Sugar Land/Missouri City, Texas, with an initial circulation of 72,417.
New headquarters finished

In April, Community Impact Newspaper finished its new $2.5 million, 16,000-square-foot headquarters in Pflugerville, Texas.
Spring/Klein

On April 10 we launched our 16th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Spring/Klein, Texas, with an initial circulation of 91,133.
Plano

On Sept. 25 we launched our 17th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Plano, Texas, with an initial circulation of 115,944.
Pearland/Friendswood

On Dec. 18 we launched our 18th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Pearland/Friendswood, Texas, with an initial circulation of 66,775.
More than 100 Impacters

At the end of 2014, Community Impact Newspaper had 123 employees, 43 of those positions being new hires.
Community Impact Newspaper Day

In February, the Texas House of Representatives and Senate approved a resolution brought by state Rep. Patricia Harless, R-Spring, to honor Community Impact Newspaper for bringing local news to communities in Austin, Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth. Feb. 11 was officially named Community Impact Newspaper Day at the Capitol.
Conroe/Montgomery

On April 16 we launched our 19th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Conroe/Montgomery, Texas, with an initial circulation of 60,191.
McKinney

On April 25 we launched our 20th edition of Community Impact Newspaper in McKinney, Texas, with an initial circulation of 62,050.
Celebrating 10 years

In September 2015, Community Impact Newspaper celebrated 10 years of bringing readers useful, hyperlocal news content across three metros in central Texas.

To commemorate CI’s 10-year anniversary, a new logo was unveiled and launched companywide.
Printing facility groundbreaking

On Sept. 21, John and Jennifer Garrett (center) hosted a ground breaking ceremony for Community Impact Printing in Pflugerville.
Lake Houston/Humble/Kingwood

On May 5 we launched our 21st edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Lake Houston/Humble/Kingwood, Texas, with an initial circulation of 85,447.
First full month of production

At the end of October, Community Impact Printing completed its first full month of production. All 22 editions from around the state are officially printed in-house.
South Houston Office Expansion

In July we moved to a larger office in Sugar Land, TX to accommodate our growing team.

On Nov. 2 we launched Community Impact Newpaper in Lake Houston, Flower Mound and Highland Village, Texas, with an initial distribution of 79,013.
NEW BRAUNFELS

On Dec. 16 we launched Community Impact Newspaper in New Braunfels, Texas with an initial distribution of 44,546.
DALLAS | FORT WORTH OFFICE EXPANSION

In April we created additional space in our office in Frisco, TX to accommodate our growing team.
BIGGER THAN TEXAS ANNOUNCEMENT

On May 29, we announced we would launch a new metro in Phoenix, AZ with a first area edition in Gilbert.
GILBERT, AZ OFFICE OPENS

On July 16, our office in Downtown Gilbert, AZ opens its doors for the first members of the Phoenix Metro team.
BAY AREA

On Aug. 10 we launched Community Impact Newspaper in the Bay Area of Houston with an initial distribution of 62,803.
RICHARDSON

On Sep. 18 we launched Community Impact Newspaper in Richardson, Texas with an initial distribution of 48,894.
GILBERT

On Sep. 28 we launched our first out of Texas edition of Community Impact Newspaper in Gilbert, Arizona with an initial distribution of 89,575.
